What's next for Kelsall Football Club?

Daniel Eagle19 May - 09:51

New Leagues. New Teams. Same Dream.

As the curtain falls on the 2024/25 season, we’d like to thank everyone who has played a part in making it another fantastic step forward for Kelsall FC. From players and coaches to volunteers and supporters, your passion and dedication continue to drive our club forward — and now it’s time to look ahead at what’s next.

A Season of Progress

This season has shown real progress on and off the pitch. We’re proud to have reached a cup final and achieved more league points than last year, reflecting the hard work that’s been put in since our reformation. We’re building solidly, and the improvement year-on-year speaks volumes about the direction we’re heading.

A massive well done goes to Paul Eagle and the players for their fantastic efforts throughout the season — not just on the pitch, but behind the scenes too. Paul has maintained 100% attendance at two training sessions per week and every matchday, setting the standard with his outstanding commitment. It’s this level of dedication that has been crucial in driving the team forward.

A huge welcome goes to Luke Ogilvie, who joined the men’s first-team coaching setup this season. With a background in professional football that includes time at Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, and other clubs, Luke brings experience and quality that is already having a positive impact on the squad.

Growth of the Game – Kelsall Women’s Team

One of the standout moments of this season has been the formation of our Kelsall Women’s team, led by coach Ed Jones, with support from Matt Ascroft and Andy Whittaker. Their efforts in building the team from the ground up have been nothing short of exceptional, and we’re incredibly proud to have them as part of the Kelsall FC family.

We’re delighted to confirm that our women’s team will be entering the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League for the 2025/26 season. This is a highly competitive division, featuring the likes of Chester FC Women U18s, Northwich Vixens, and Nantwich Town. We’re excited to see the team compete and continue to grow throughout the campaign.

Stepping Up: West Cheshire Football League Application

With the foundations laid and ambition running high, we’ve taken the next step in our footballing journey by applying for the West Cheshire Division 3 – an important move as we work towards counties football. This progression represents our intent to grow the club sustainably while testing ourselves at a higher level.

To compete at this level, however, our home ground – the Field of Dreams – must meet specific ground grading requirements.

Field of Dreams: Upgrades Ahead

Entry into the West Cheshire League means we’ll be undertaking several infrastructure improvements over the coming months. This includes:
• Installation of showers and toilets in the home and away changing rooms
• A new referee’s room with its own facilities
• Boarding up old windows to meet safety standards
• Adding a permanent pitch surround barrier

These upgrades are vital to ensure compliance, support our teams, and create a more professional, welcoming environment for players, officials, and fans alike.

Community Matters

Everything we do continues to be volunteer-led, community-driven, and fueled by the incredible support we receive from sponsors, fans, and local businesses. With another exciting year on the horizon, we’ll soon be launching a new round of sponsorship opportunities as well as a Field of Dreams Community Fund to help raise the final bits of funding for our facilities work.

Well done to everyone working behind the scenes to ensure our progression. Charlotte Goodacre, Jack Johnson, Ray Carr, Kay Eagle, Chris & Linda Pierce.

If you’re interested in getting involved — whether it’s through sponsoring the club, volunteering, or donating — we’d love to hear from you. Everything gets reinvested back into the club to ensure the progression of our village team.

Support

A massive thank you goes out to our supporters, who have followed us home and away throughout the season. It’s truly incredible that a team still in the early stages of its journey has already built such a passionate and loyal following.

Your presence at games, your voices from the sidelines, and your belief in what we’re building mean the world to everyone involved at the club. We can’t thank you enough for getting involved and helping to create the kind of atmosphere that makes Kelsall FC such a special place to be.

Looking Ahead

The 2025/26 season promises to be our biggest yet. With two competitive teams, new league challenges, and major facility upgrades underway, the journey continues at pace. Kelsall FC is building something special — and we’re just getting started.

Thank you for being part of it.
