Kelsall FC Managers Report W/E 13/4/25

We're back for one more at the Field of Dreams!

Back to business this week! Progress has been made on the clubhouse development ready for the new season. The old windows have been removed and we've added the cladding to match the building to meet regulations for the next tier. We are now planning the installation of showers and toilets in the changing rooms which is a positive step in the right direction for the clubs facilities.

Training resumed on Tuesday evening with a light session, followed by a BBQ for the lads – a brilliant effort to boost morale and team spirit, which was a huge success. Thursday’s session was focused, with preparations for Saturday’s Life Members Cup quarter-final against Cheshire Viking Vets stepping up a gear.

Saturday arrived with perfect football weather – bright and sunny – as we welcomed the Vikings to the Field of Dreams. On paper, many may have expected a routine win based on league standings, but credit to the visitors, who put up a fierce fight and pushed us all the way in a tightly contested match. The first half ended 0-0, and if anything, we were slightly fortunate to go into the break level, as the Vikings created some strong chances. Credit to goalkeeper George Billingham for some fantastic 1 on 1 saves early on.

After regrouping at half-time, the lads came out with renewed energy and purpose, and we soon found ourselves 2-0 up thanks to a well-taken brace from Kieran Price. The Vikings weren’t done though, and a late goal from them ensured a nervy finish. Nonetheless, the lads held on to claim a hard-earned 2-1 win and a place in the semi-finals!

A big shoutout to Cheshire Viking Vets – best of luck to them in their title race and their Tom Geraghty Trophy final.

Next week is Easter weekend and we’re without a fixture, giving us some valuable time to recover and refocus. Our semi-final will be against either Lache FC (currently challenging for the Championship title) or Moreton FC (still in the Premier League title hunt) on Wednesday 30th April at The Field of Dreams: 6:15 KO – either way, it promises to be a tough encounter.

In the meantime, work continues on both the pitch and clubhouse as we edge towards the end of what’s been a memorable season.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to support the lads on Saturday and a continued thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters – we couldn’t do it without you.

Have a great Easter week!
Paul
